Kelly Zuniga For Mayor

It’s looking like things didn’t go our way tonight. We fought hard, we were organized, strategic and hard-working, but a small majority of the voters saw it a different way tonight.

I just spoke with Justin and I offered him my best wishes for the next two years. It’s a hard pill to swallow, but the voters have spoken and we will move on to the next set of challenges in our community.

This outcome, while deeply disappointing, does not diminish my love for Erie. I will continue to be involved in my own way to make our community a great place to work and raise a family. While the outcome is certainly cause for reflection, I will be back in some capacity. Public service is in my nature, and I’m confident I’ll find a way to make a difference here in our backyard.

There’s so much to be encouraged by – all of the energy that we saw from volunteers, the ideas we discussed about making our community better, the people I never would have met if I hadn’t run for office. We didn’t win the election, but I gained so many new friends and got better connected with the friends I already had.

Please don’t wallow in this outcome. We still need to show up at Council meetings, speak during public comment and hold our leaders accountable.
